The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) for the Gainesville and Alachua Area is responsible for carrying out the region's metropolitan transportation planning program in collaboration with local officials and residents.  This is required to receive federal and state funding for highway, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian transportation projects. The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) consists of local, regional, and state agency representatives. The TAC reviews transportation plans and programs from a technical perspective and makes recommendations to the MTPO.
