The Advisory Council provides an opportunity for citizen involvement on ways to improve services for crime victims and raise awareness about abuse and crime as to positively impact the community.
The Advisory Council has three subcommittees:
• Awareness and Prevention Subcommittee: currently focused on raising awareness about sexual assault and human trafficking.
• Sexual Assault Forensic Services Subcommittee: works with the Center on finding ways to improve medical and forensic services for sexual assault survivors.
• From Report to Court Subcommittee: currently researching the outcomes of local cases of sexual assault that were reported from 2014-2018.
The Advisory Council’s regular meeting is held on the third Thursday of every other month in-person at the Alachua County Community Support Services Department. The Subcommittees meet online on the month the regular meeting is not held. Terms are for two years.
